Siko is one of the largest bathroom and kitchen retailers in Central Europe, operating both physical stores and a large-scale online shop. I joined the team to help develop and extend their newest B2C portal, built on the SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) platform. The platform required heavy customisation to match Siko’s specific design and business requirements.
I worked as a frontend developer responsible for implementing new features, overriding and customising existing SAP Commerce Cloud components, and integrating third-party payment and logistics services into the storefront.
Working within SAP Commerce Cloud meant navigating a highly opinionated and complex platform where overriding default components required careful understanding of the existing module structure. The challenge was making deep customisations without breaking the underlying platform behaviour or upgrade path.
I approached this by studying the platform’s component architecture thoroughly, isolating overrides at the right level, and keeping custom code cleanly separated from the original platform code.
The customised storefront successfully delivered the intended Siko shopping experience, with working third-party integrations for payments and logistics. The PayPal and Packeta integrations expanded the checkout options available to customers, directly supporting conversion at the most critical point in the funnel.
